Greenpoint Tree Corps is a community volunteer group working with neighbors to improve the urban forest through street tree stewardship, beautification, and educational events.

About Us

In 2017, neighbors Acacia Thompson and Sarah Balistreri met through their shared love of street trees and a desire to take care of trees in the neighborhood. Both Citizen Pruners in Greenpoint, they set out to use their tree pruning skills to promote the health of our urban forest while improving life in the neighborhood for humans and wildlife alike. The community had recently benefited from a healthy grant allowing for over 600 new street trees to be planted in Greenpoint, and Sarah and Acacia knew someone needed to be around to help those trees flourish. They formed Greenpoint Tree Corps to empower neighbors to take care of their street trees, to learn the impact trees make on our lives in the city, and to find a sense of community in a shared love of nature.
